Aleksandar Ljahnicky - architect, designer, and painter
Biography
Aleksandar Ljahnicky was born in Oklaj, Croatia, and holds U.S. citizenship. He graduated in architecture from the University of Zagreb and studied painting and stage design at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb. From 1970 to 1990, he served as Director of Scenography at Television Zagreb, and from 1990 to 1995, as Design Director at the Ozeha advertising agency. As an architect, he designed numerous hotels, museums, churches, and residential buildings.
Ljahnicky specialized in designing national pavilions, many of which showcased his large-format paintings. Taking advantage of the vast spaces, he created innovative artworks, including his patented "Hol-Pol" technique. He has received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to architecture, scenography, design, and sculpture, with many of his works featured in museums and private collections.
